AT&T vs. Comcast?

Ok...another isp thread haha

My roommates and I were leaning towards AT&T DSL (since my family's been using it for years...like before it acquired bell), but just saw AT&T only has 3 mbps u-verse service available for $19.95/mo+installation fees and stuff (like $150?).

Comcast gives us 20mbps for 6 months, and it's like $37/month if we rent a modem. We were thinking we beg to extend the price, or cancel and re register with a different name. We'll only be here until the end of this school year.

Anyone know if I can pull out any better deals from either? Is 3mbps any good for 3 people who will probably watch videos and skype in the evening/night? I figure we need at least 6mbps, but idk...How "unreliable" is comcast, as per the other threads in the forum - is the backup really that horrible? I tutor online so need something for reliable video chatting 7-10 at night and maybe 5-7 in the morning.

And is there no other faster or more reliable service provider here?

3 mbps is not enough. The stories of horrible service from at&t/comcast are the exception, not the rule. I doubt there are other options.

haha hopefully - comcast it is!

Thanks!

If anyone does sign up for new service at At&t, there’s a “refer-a-friend” program where we can both get $75. PM me if interested.
