HELP!
The second semester has been a huge senioritis for me. And after the first quarter, I failed my AP Art History class and now is failing AGAIN for the second quarter, along with AP Literature and possibly, AP Calculus.
I have already notified UC Berkeley with my failing classes and the possibly-falling class.
Would this get me rescind?
PLEASE HELP :(

I have learn my lesson, and yes I'm working my butt off with extra-credits

Failing as in D or F? I’m in a similar position but I’m trying to do as much EC to makeup for it. At this point try to talk to your teacher and explain the circumstances!! I’m sure your teacher doesn’t want to be the one who prevents you from going to CAL. Also provide some reasons ( besides senioritis) why you weren’t working as hard.

yeah, if your official grade in a class is either a D or an F, you will get rescinded.

Not to be harsh or anything but what made you slack off after working you ass off for the previous 3 years? The only thing you can do is work your butt off now but senioritis isn’t a good enough excuse.

Yes it does mean D or F

they don’t rescind s h i t. I had a friend who got a 2.5 his last semester and they didn’t care…(that was the semester he discovered weed :D)

Really? Did your friend gave a reason to that?

I know a really smart guy who basically stopped trying his last semester, and ended up getting a D in one of his classes. His acceptance was rescinded as soon as the school found out. He’s now our high school’s poster child for trying to get seniors to keep grades up.

i see
you really motivate to do much more credits now

If you fail a class after 3 years of good grades, it shows that you are capable of getting good grades but chose not to do so. Now Berkeley must ask, " Did this person work hard only for sake of college admission?"

With a D or an F, Berkeley is certain to reject you.

Actually, they specifically say in the admission contract that you can’t get lower than a C. I honestly don’t see how you can get an A or a B and then have that fall to a D or F just from slacking off. It seems like you would almost have to try to do that bad.

" they don’t rescind s h i t. I had a friend who got a 2.5 his last semester and they didn’t care…(that was the semester he discovered weed )"

as long as it averaged out to 3.0 it was fine.

8s - actually the condition is that each semester individually has to be 3.0 or higher, but they often will allow a little slack for a single failure - one class particularly for one semester only. Otherwise, those who offered to retake the class at community college over the summer often were retained as Cal students because the offer showed they were not just slacking off after getting admission.

no, i had below a 3.0 1st semester of senior year, called them and they said it was fine as long as i brought my senior year gpa back to above a 3.0. so went back and worked. maybe it has changed this past 2 years

lmao “that’s the semester he discovered weed”

hahaha maybe i should discover it too! lol jk tottaallyy kidding haha

just wondering is 3.0 GPA UW or W?

8s - you did what they asked - notified them - and received an exception if you brought your GPA back up to 3.0 for your second semester. Conditions haven’t changed - both semesters individually must be at least 3.0 UW and zero D or F grades. If you don’t meet the conditions, you can contact them and if the situation is close, as in your case, get an exception.

i got this off of my berk app

Complete all senior-year courses listed on your application with an overall unweighted B average for each term and no grade lower than a C. Immediately notify us, in writing: if you did not meet the grade point average condition for any term of your senior year; or of any changes to your senior year class schedule.

^ thats in order to maintain admission

hey- sorry to intrude on this thread but i have a question. Do not have any D’s F’s or even C’s for that matter, but I did drop a class mid 3rd quarter. I sent a letter to all schools explaining why. For the UC’s, because I’d applied to so many, I sent one to the central processing center.

Should I be okay? The class was an elective.
