Contact the financial aid offices of MSU and Mich (I agree that you should try to transfer and see if you can appeal the EFC amount. Yours is exactly the type of situation that financial aid offices will consider – very low income, but assets that give you bad FAFSA results. If your mom’s net worth is high, but the assets are not really liquid, they may be able to help you.
