ATDP 2015

Is anyone else applying to ATDP (UC Berkeley's Academic Talent Development Program) for the summer of 2015? Those of you who have attended the program in previous years, how did you find it (curriculum, classmates, instructors, environment, etc.)? I'm thinking of applying to the Cognitive Neuroscience course.

Hm, am I the only CCer applying?

My friend’s done it multiple times and she loves it (she’s taken Physics and Bi. I’m not applying because I’m going to take courses at UCSC if I don’t get into any programs.

@topaz1116‌ Thanks for the response!

Apparently my response didn’t come out properly? She’s taken Physics and Biotechnology, though.

I took Advanced Biotech in 2013. It was an amazing experience and it opened up the whole field of genetics and biotechnology to me. Every class was a lab class and the professor encouraged creativity in designing our own experiments. During my time there, the TA of Advanced Biotech said the Cognitive Neuroscience people weren’t really doing much so you should really consider biotech. There are only 2 classes per week so you’ll have to preoccupy yourself with something else during the time you are free. The classmates were all intelligent, social and interested people and the environment was very relaxed and comfy. The instructor was a great person. He’d happily answer any questions I had and was generally a very supportive person (Mr. Chugh).

I definitely suggest you check it out.

Also I barely knew anything about the concerned topics before going there so the instructor gave us experiments, words and other information to look and find out for ourselves which was all part of the fun. Be prepared for lots of homework though.

@awesomenitrocity Wow, that sounds awesome! Biotechnology is already a class offered at my school, which is why I would rather take Cognitive Neuroscience. The CN course is also really close to what I’m interested. Thanks for the detailed response!
