Atheist at Religiously Affiliated Universities?

I was just curious as to how me being an atheist would impact my experience at a religiously affiliated school. I am looking to apply to University of San Diego, a Roman-Catholic university, and I'd just like some insight into whether or not you believe it's an alright decision, or whether I should think twice. Thank you.

As long as it’s not an evangelical college that requires participation in church services or mass or whatever, maybe it’s worth applying to. It’s up to you to decide whether or not you’d feel comfortable there. Maybe visit the school for a few days and then decide.

For the record, I’m an agnostic leaning slightly towards atheism, and I decided last year not to apply to Belmont University solely based on the fact that it’s an evangelical Christian school. I just knew that I wouldn’t be comfortable spending four years in a nearly homogenous religious atmosphere.

College students in general tend to be more liberal and open-minded. It’s unlikely that the students at USD will try to force their beliefs down your throat. They will, however, converse with each other about God and the Bible, and you might hear things that you believe are ridiculous. But are you really going to say that straight to their faces? Unlikely. Just saying that you might not feel completely at home in such an atmosphere.

bump it up. Any input from people that have been in this position before?
