Athlete recruit, but still not sure about grades...help!

lol I’m new to this website so i’m sorry if certain things were addressed already…

I have just recently been recruited to the Brown womens fencing team (saber), and the coach needs more saber girls. I know I have the stats and results at national tournaments, but I am still very skeptical about my grades.

Fencing Results:
Rating- B12 (i’ve only been fencing for 3 years sooo…this is really good haha)
Top 8 at the 2012 Summer nationals
Top 16 in 4 NACS
Top 32 in Juniors (2012 Nationals)
…and been placing top 8 in local tournaments.

Again, I’m more worried about my grades than anything at this point.

GPA: We only have weighted in my school and a scale of 100…so i’m not sure what a 91 is in a 4.0 scale???
Top 25% in class
Junior Year cumal. avg: 94
National Honor Society (inducted in 11th grade)
Foreign National Honor Society (11th grade)
Honor Rolls for the past 3 years (9th,10th and 11th with high honor rolls as a junior)

ACT: 27
^retaking that in October and i’m hoping for a 30, literally studying my butt off.

Can anyone help me out about where I am at this moment…?

The coach must have asked for your transcripts and test scores. What did he/she say about your grades, classes and test scores? What ACT score did the coach say that you need?

I gave him my transcript this week, he said he’s going to do a pre-read…basically sending it to admissions to see whether I’m a candidate or not.
lol…he’s running around all over the place, but I just had a meeting with him today (official visit & “interview”) and he didn’t ask much except ACT scores and he definitely most definitely is in need for saber girls (theres like 5…including 1 decent)

I’m just basing my ACT scores on the range of the students (28-33?) and since I’m a 27…I’m still iffy about that. (retaking)

Oh, classes this year I’m taking ap bio, ap stats and ap english if that helps or anything…

You’re a B after only 3 years?!?!! I think I hate you haha. Nah, but in all seriousness those stats are below what a lot of recruits have, esp. class rank. The ACT score is not awful though for athletes, and if they really need saber girls, they might give you a pass on weaknesses. good luck!

haha, yeah I fenced competitively a month after i started…plus i train at manhattan fencing center which is huge on saber fencers. but haha thank you!
Yeah, I understand that, that’s why I was a little bit hesitant about applying here…or whether I’d get in or not! I’ve actually found another school that I’m in love with and decided to actually commit (got recruited for fencing as well, but their DIII) & the coach already said i’m accepted because i sent my transcripts and scores already.

but thank you! :)
