what is it like to be an athlete at colby? i'll be playing a fall sport next year and i am wondering how my social life will be affected. do athletes still drink and go to parties in season? anything else?

hey cfh,

I'm an athlete at Colby, playing water polo and swimming varsity. I find that my social life does not suffer in the least bit. Athletes party just as much, if not more, than non-athelte academicians. Some sports have a "dry season" that lasts for about a month where there is no drinking, but besides that, your drinknig life should not be hindered.

are the field hockey players cool?

I don't know the direct answer to that question, but a good 95% of the people that I have met here seem to be really nice and outgoing, especially the sports teams.

I'm aslo an athlete and I hope I get recruited for the team. That will be my ticket to matriculating at Colby.

which sport do you play

werd814,
As for sports, I play soccer, Basketball, and volleyball well, but I'm more for track and field. 100m(11.90s latest), 200m(24s), 400m(56s),and Longjump(5.2m). I was contacted by coach Coffin and I've not heard anything since then. I also swim, but I''m not a varsity swimmer.

Bashir - You could check out the times on this website to determine if you would be competitive for track and field at Colby. If your times are at or near the top- consider giving the coach a call.
