I'm currently being recruited by Princeton to play a sport at the University. I was wondering if being recruited had a heavy hand in the acceptance process, or if anyone on here is being recruited/ or was recruited and could offer some insight. If anyone is or was recruited and can tell me their GPA or test scores or anything helpful so I could match myself up to someone who has been accepted that would be great. Basically, any info would be helpful. As always, many thanks :)

There is a special forum in “College Admissions” under Specialty Amissions; Athletic Recruits where you can read about many experiences.

If you are on the coach’s final list (that s/he gives to admissions for that team), it will be a huge boost. However to make the list, you’ll have to have the GPA, rank, and test scores necessary. A good tool to use is the Academic Index (you can google it and find it on various sites). Generally, you will want your SAT I & IIs to all be in the 700+ range to know the academics aren’t preventing you from acceptance. GPA 3.7+ If your scores are lower, you 'll have to have regional/national level athletic rankings/speeds/times as well as be on the top of the coach’s list.

thanks, very helpful!! :)

Hi there, I’m being recruited as well! From what I have gotten from talking with the coaches, they have a certain number of athletes they are allowed to support in admissions and usually, if they support you, that means they are confident you will get in with their support.

Also, be aware if you have amazing test scores. I have heard of coaches recruiting athletes and not supporting them in admissions because they think they can get in without it and they want to use that ‘tip’ for another athlete.

Thanks, I had thought that is what the coach had told me but I wasn’t sure. Best of luck to you! Thanks for replying!
