Athletic capabilities but not asking for scholarship

<p>Hi there,</p>

<p>I currently play rugby in high school and I know that most colleges do not offer athletic scholarships for rugby players as rugby is usually a club sport. </p>

<p>My question is will contacting the coach of the team and expressing interest in participating help me in the admissions process? </p>

<p>I believe that I could be an asset to almost any college team as I was/am the team captain and I might be part of the national youth team in my country (still trying out). What do you guys think?</p>

<p>If it’s a club sport, there will be no admissions bumps. Only varsity sports, in general, offer admissions preferences.</p>

<p>Just started a Division II varsity rugby program for fall of 2012. Might be worth looking into.</p>
