Athletic course question

Does anyone know if there are classes that i can take that count as a credit such as any type of mma or jiu-jitsu. I’ve heard they have classes such as bowling, golfing, and others. I’m just not sure of what kind of courses they offer and do you get credits for them?

You get 1 credit for Leisure Activities such as…

Karate
Judo ( I don’t see the ones you’ve mentioned.)
Soccer
Basketball
Tennis
Track and Field
Badminton
Volleyball
Aerobics
Social Dance
Swim Fitness
Swimming
Scuba Diving
Racquetball
Weight Training
Jogging
and others

^^^In addition to the for-credit courses, there are first come, first served classes at the Rec Center. I also remember seeing an ad for private jiu-jitsu lessons, but I haven’t heard of either that or mixed martial arts being offered as a for-credit course. The for-credit courses are in the Kinesiology (KIN) department.

wen i was in college in the olden days i took a ton of pe classes. volleyball (many times), badminton, bowling, golf.

it was fun. in fact, i am thinking of taking some more now!!

: )

Is there a site where it lists all of these kind of courses?

Here’s the course listings out of the UA catalog.

[University of Alabama Undergraduate Catalog 2008-10](<a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>Page Not Found | The University of Alabama)

OK, using the search function on the course catalog link on Mybama (under the Academics tab), here’s what I dredged up for Fall 2010, using the following search criteria: 1 credit courses, Kinesiology Dept., activity/studio course. Hope this helps.

It can be hard to get into these “credit” classes for a first semester freshmen. However, as SEA_Tide says the Rec Center has there are first come, first served classes (not for credit). There are also many intramural activities to join.
