Athletic Recruit at Haverford

@Burgermeister
What’s wrong with NESCAC country?

@Burgermeister F&M is very far from Philadelphia compared to Haverford. Amtrak is expensive for a college student,

Rankings place NESCAC colleges at the top and I felt that Hamilton, Middlebury and Williams were incredibly tranquil, beautiful campuses. But travel time and travel costs are a big concern for us. I am fortunate that I can hop in the car and drive less than two hours to see my kids play. They can hop on a train and come the evening before Thanksgiving dinner. A son at an urban university lost lots of class time because of job interviews even though his college was located 30 minutes from two major airports. We never visited the LACs in the state of Maine because of logistics … shucks, I never got to visit the college with the lobsters! Travel may be less of a concern for you.

I learn something new every day. Most coaches only are able to push athletes through the ED process. Hope that the RD push at Haverford works for you … keep us informed. Great college, great location and agreeable tennis weather. ACT 32 is the golden number for D3 recruits.

I am a parent and I am not at Haverford. However, I am from Broward County and my son will be at Haverford next year.

I was 1 of recruits that didn’t get in this year after my pre-read. The coach was wonderful and supported my application. ACT was 33 and GPA was 4.00. Why do you think your tennis is so much better then the others on the team. Haverford has 3 and 4 star players. The coach has pull with admissions but can not guarantee anything. I wish you luck it is a great school.

@Jeromekas
That sucks you didn’t get in, especially with your stats. I have 32 ACT. Did you ED?
As far as tennis is concerned, I am an easy #1 or #2 on the team. Rating is higher that almost everyone.

Yes did ED 1. I have no idea why I wasn’t accepted admissions at Haverford is hard to figure out. They are no longer need blind so perhaps my need for financial aid had an impact. I have been accepted at a bunch of other school so will be fine. My mom was more upset then I was. F&M is also a good school and the tennis coach is really cool. I hope you get in fingers crossed!!

@Jeromekas I’m a Haverford student who had extensive discussions with the admissions office regarding the change away from need blind and they told me that they would not evaluate applicants in a need-aware manner until they ran out of money (last 5% of class). I explicitly asked if that meant ED would be evaluated need-blind since they can’t run out of money for ED and they said it would be.

@Jeromekas

Are you applying to F&M? What other schools did you get into?
