athletic recruitment at Gtown.

Hi, i am looking into Georgetown as a possible athletic recruit.
I am currently a junior and have begun to talk with the crew coach at Gtown.

From a recent e-mail he said "on paper you appear to be just the type of student athlete we look to recruit at Gtown" ( after sending in a recruitment form)

My question is, does anyone here have any athletic recruiting experiance at Gtown?

If so, how heavily does a sport weigh in the admission process?

ANY info will be greatly appreciated
thanks.

Yeah I'm an accepted EA student at Gtown class of 2011. I'm also a rower (lightweight tho). I didn't actually get recruited. I flew out to Gtown and met with the coaches (Justin Manning) and etc.. When I met with them they said basically they only recruit 4 lightweights a year and they don't do any recruiting for crew at least for lighweights early admission i.e you can apply EA, but you will only be recruited for RD. I had decent erg scores at the time and they said I would be a possible candidate, but that they had alot of other guys with similar scores. Anyways I applied EA to see if I could get in on my own plus I knew it was unlikely I would be one of the four recruits they wanted. A friend of mine, who happens to row for the same team as me, is being recruited heavyweight RD at gtown and a number of other schools. Gtown isn't his top choice, but it would appear that sports/recruitment weigh in pretty heavily at least at Georgetown. If they really want you, they'll get you in.

Thanks for the reply,
do you, by any chance, know your heavyweight friends info

like height weight erg scores grades SAT

any info will b appreciated.

yo dude, i go to school right by gtown, and my teammate is bein recruited by them as a lwt, he has a pretty sick 2k wit a 642, he bout 6'1" and got ok grades and SATs. so yea, hop[e that helps

Yeah the guy from my team who is being recruited by Gtown + Ivies, is like 6'2'' 195 lbs and pulls a 6:28. He has decent grades + really good SATs

Just communicate with the coaches as much as possible and they will pretty much let you know how interested they are.

yea im currently talking with Mark Mandel, heavyweight frosh coach

i sent my rowing transcript, and weve been talking since then

im def gonna keep pushing the issue and lower my scores (6:47 2k as of now)

and hopefully it will work out

Thanks for all your replies!

For that 6:42 and 6'1 guy, how much does he weigh, and what do you mean by "ok grades and SATs?"
