How much impact does being a recruit have on getting in?

Depends how good you are. ;)

If you're being recruited, the coach makes a list of athletes he or she would like to be accepted and submits the list to the admissions office.

However, that does not guarantee admission by any means.

how much of a difference does it make?

I was being recruited for football for a while. How much of a difference does it make? Let's put it this way, if you don't have that many C's and your SAT scores aren't atrocious, you're pretty much in.

if you are being recruited for CREW, and you applied EA to Yale or Harvard with 2200+ SAT and about 3.9 (W) GPA and good EC's how good are your chances????

you're in.

find out high you are on the coaches list, and how many recruits they usually have each year. if they say you are one of their top recruits, then you are very likely to be admitted. i have had about a dozen friends recruited by ivies, and none of the ones that were told they were high on the recruit list were rejected.

oh cool. I think that the coaches are contacted by 300-400 athletes a year, and narrow them down to 10-20, sometimes less. This is for CREW.

It also really depends on what sport you're being recruited for. I've heard that crew and football recruits have the best chance for Harvard, other recruits get less of a bump.

lax is probably second to crew in the bump that you get
