We are just beginning the college search with our son who is an accomplished 2 sport athlete and B student at one of the top prep schools in the East. He would like to go to a Div 3 college where he can combine a great education with great athletics. His top choices are the NESCAC schools (Colby, Bowdoin, Trinity have shown significant interest in him athletically) and clearly he will need a "tip" to gain admission as his grades are a bit below the standard. He should be in range for SAT scores.

How does banding/academic index work at the NESCACs? Anyone been through this before?
