Athletics at W and L

Just wondering if there is any school spirit when it comes to supporting the atheltic teams at the university?

@audi2015 No pun intended, but generally it’s soft except for lacrosse and half a football game. Other sports? Some but it’s not like the NESCAC schools intensity-wise. The new president hails from that conference - Williams - so maybe he will make it an emphasis. The real problem is that W&L is in a conference filled with schools that are not even close to its league academically. It’s hard to get worked up when you are playing Bridgewater or Emery and Henry.

People go to support their friends on the teams. Some of the teams have actually been pretty strong in recent years – football, women’s tennis, women’s soccer. And the outing club gets a surprising amount of participation – the area is breathtakingly beautiful. If rah-rah sports culture is important to you, look at Wake or Davidson.

Thank you for the replies.
