Oberlin seems like a great fit for my S. who is very into music, good student, etc. He also plays #1 position on his varsity tennis team at school. What is the sports/tennis scene like at Oberlin? All the reviews seem to say that it doesn't exist!

Tennis is very good at Whitman college in Walla Walla, Washington. They are top 25 nationally most of the time and it has a very good acadamic reputation. Obviously, the music depts. at Oberlin are much better regarded than those at Whitman. If music more important to your son than tennis, then Oberlin would clearly be preferable, but if it is the other way around, you might want to consider Whitman.
