Just thought I would throw this out there. But for thoe of you who do not already know the academic index is a cornerstone of ivy league recruiting. Further a coach is bound by the rule that his total incoming class of recruits must be within one standard deviation of the whole school’s average academic index. So my question is what is Brown’s average academic index, and what does one standard deviation equal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated to end the debate with friends and family.

From bits and pieces I have come across on the web, my guess is that HYP AI average is in the 218 area, maybe 210-212 for Dartmouth and Brown. One SD = about 13 points.
Are you currently being recruited? If so, does this coincide with what the coaching staff has told you? Thanks

sleepless, i am currently being recruited although the coach would not go into specific numbers with me whenever we discussed my AI. if your numbers are correct than Brown teams would be required to average ~200 AI with each incoming recruiting class.

are you currently being recruited? if so i am assuming the coaches havent given you any more information thatn you've already posted.

from what i understand harvard and dartmouth are actually the most stringent when it comes to recruting, with everyone else getting some leniency, thus i dont think bronw can be grouped with dartmouth. maybe it is more equal to columbia or penn?
