I just want to know what specific areas I need to work on to be as physically ready for basic training as possible. What exercises do they stress the most? What should I expect? How tough are the daily physical demands?

pushups, mostly.

the academy is 7500 ft above seal level, (about, little less). the density altitude on a 85 deggre day it feels even higher, like 10,000 ft. So practice running. Ever wonder why people from Kenya do so well in the Olympics? Its because they train on the mountains. AFA does the same thing. Thats why cadets cheer when the other football team is exhausted. When I visited the Academy, I had a lot of nosebleeds and my lungs were hurting. Make sure you run as hard and as often as you can. Hit the gym. You do not want to get booted off the Academy for poor physical peformance. Go on the academyadmissions.com website and look up atheltics. Every semester cadets have to take a physical fitness exam. The min and max are listed there so aim for those. Air Force = Aim high. That exam should give you a pretty good idea of how to prepare physically.Unfotunately I live in NYC which is on sea level, that is why if I get an appointment, I'm going to live in Colorado Springs 1-2 weeks before Beast and run so I can get adjusted to the altitude. Good Luck.

haha.. pushups, pullups, flutter kicks (6 inches & moving your legs like vertical scissors), and run like heck. simple enough :)

being able to do as many as i can as often as i can is my goal! dont burn yourself out though.

I'd suggest doing a lot of flutter kicks too. If you are lucky enough to be in group one, you will be visiting me. And I will have a pleasant time with you. I love flutter kicks.

well, aren't you sweet
