It takes place on Sunday, August 4th from 1pm to 3pm and is hosted by our local UA recruiter and the Bama alumni association. Details below… be sure to RSVP by July 27th.

@TNandBAMAMom… Since this will be my first (and only) send-off party I can’t speak from personal experience, but the FB page states:

“Join us as we send area freshmen off to Bama in style! We’ll have food, drinks, games, socializing, and more. Every student in attendance will be eligible for a chance to win a Bama in Atlanta book scholarship.”

Looking forward to seeing “twomutts” and “momoftriplets” (are you sending 3 kids to Bama?!) :-)

Well, I guess we’ll find out firsthand what goes on. I just rsvp’d for D and myself to go next Saturday. We’re promised food, fun, games, music, and give aways. It should be fun!

We attended the Atlanta party 2 years ago and were glad we went. Enjoyed eating and getting to know some other families (ran into several during move-in and it was nice to see familiar faces when we were a bit overwhelmed!). There was a speaker from one of the National Championship football teams (we actually sat with him while we were eating and enjoyed talking to him) and even a mini “store” where you could buy some Alabama items. Hope you guys will be as happy at Bama as we have been — I think #2 is going to be attending as well! I wore an Alabama shirt to watch my D run this year’s Peachtree and got a huge number of “Roll Tides” from runners and spectators so our numbers are growing here!

Looking forward to meeting some CCers this afternoon… You can’t miss me, I’m the 5’9" - 170 lb WASP male in his early 50’s with greying hair! :-)

^^^
and we’ll be the ones with all the noisy children! No, just oldest DD going this year. The triplets? We tease that we’re thankful the federal prison system provides free tuition.
Wow, 205!!! Looking forward to it!

The alumni association with our regional recruiters put on a nice event yesterday afternoon. There were over 200 people (crowded) including over 70 freshman students, plus alumni, and parents.

They provided food and soft drinks and to encourage mingling had a scavenger hunt which required asking other freshman and alumni for answers to the questions.

While only in his early twentys, he was very-very well spoken. He spoke about college life both from the perspective of a football player and as a regular student attending UA. What really impressed me is that this young man could eloquently speak for about 30 minutes without any notes. I know I could not have done that at his age (nor can many people do that at any age).

(Apparently, according to Brandon, I’m the same height as Nick Saban! A joke he made during his talk.) :-)

I also got to speak with him afterwards a very nice young man with a drive to succeed in business. Hes currently a salesman for a medical device company.
