i am from southern california, and really don't know much about JHU. can you guys give me your opinion on the location? is it in the middle of a city or is it surburban?
what's the weather like year round?
and anything else just to give me an idea would be much appreciated!!

Right now the temperatures are in the mid sixties to high seventies. In the winter, it's chilly from the 30s to the 50s. We had snow a few times this winter.
The campus is self-contained, in that it is an all-pedestrian campus. It is bordered by Charles street, which is a major thorough way. Really, Hopkins lies in between a very very rich neighborhood, with large Georgian homes on large lots of land on the north. To the south, the environment becomes more urban, until you get down to downtown and the inner harbor.

If you're really consider attending, I strongly recommend you visit, because Hopkins is really unlike many other universities.

Come visit.

Also, I recommend ask your questions to Adam T. on Hopkins Interactive. Adam is a sophomore at Hopkins right now and also from Southern California. He can tell you about how it was to adjust to living in B'more and all about the eclectic weather we get.

Here is a link to his student profile:
