Atnt or verizon?

My t mobile contract ends in September, and after open house I realized how bad t mobile coverage is there. So that leaves me with verizon and atnt. Which has better service? The iphone is tempting but costs more, so I’m letting my decision come down to which carrier has better service. Thanks!

My son and I have iPhones and the coverage was fine when we were there at Open House. No problems inside the store, downtown, on campus or the motel. He will stick with that while he has the contract obligation.

If you are just starting out on a new plan, i have heard Verizon is good.

I think the general consensus is that you can get by with ATT (like my son does), but Verizon has better coverage. More info here:

When I asked this question earlier in the year, Version was the clear #1 choice. The issue for many is that only AT&T offers the iPhone. There are lots of rumors now that a Verizon iPhone will be released in the fall. So, my daughter has decided to go with Verizon and plans to get an iPhone when (if) it comes out.

Good call Mariner. I’m about to dump AT&T and go back to Verizon.

My son has Verizon and the coverage is great. For those who need an iPhone, my son just got a Verizon Droid, and in his opinion it is just as good. It has an open source OS, so most apps are free. He comes home on the train, and was always upset that he didn’t have Internet connectivity on the train. He downloaded an app that allows him to use his phone Internet connection to connect his laptop. Plus, I no longer have to take forever to text long messages to him, since I can email straight to his phone.

Don’t know about AT&T, but Verizon works great!

Does he have the Motorola Droid? Does it have the touch screen and keyboard as well as the pull-out one? I have Verizon, but so far we’ve been reluctant to pay the monthly media charge for smartphones. However, *when *and *if *they get the iPhone I might have to reconsider. I have an iPod Touch and I love the touch screen/keyboard. I downloaded a free texting app so as long as I have wifi it works great. SO much easier to text compared to my little “dumbphone” with a regular numerical/alphabetic keyboard.

Yes, it has both touchscreen and pullout keyboards. You should visit a Verizon store and have them show you all the features. I know I was impressed. Or check it out on their website.

So I’ve heard bad things about at&t’s coverage and service,
but when I visited for open house, I had absolutely no issues.
I don’t have an iphone, I don’t even have internet on my phone.
I was worried about having to switch providers but it seems like I don’t.
Everywhere I went on campus, including dorm rooms, I had service in.
I hope this helps!
