I've started looking at the Common Application although I'm one year early. Actually I'm glad that, in the activity list, there's more room to elaborate than a couple of years ago. On the other hand, I would prefer attaching a way more detailed list. Should I still do that or would it mean, looking at the latest changes, that I simply wasn't able to put my explanations short? For example I've participated in several (important) 4 to 10-day programs during the school year. In the CoomonApp there's no way to indicate that.

My son put his main activities, etc in the CA. He then attached an Activities profile that was about four pages that detailed everything. You can do that at the end - where it says you can attach a document. If the school uses it in the process, great - if not, that’s OK. I don’t believe it hurt my son in any way- all acceptances and great merit scholarships.

You don’t need to include on the Activities page that you’re attaching a supplemental activities list. It’ll just be put at the end of the application when you attach it under “Additional Information.” Colleges may or may not use it, but it doesn’t hurt to provide it. I attached a more detailed and comprehensive resume in the Additional Information section.
