Attaching resume to Tulane's online app?

I'm filling out Tulane's app and was wondering whether I should attach a resume or just fill out the spaces. I have a resume already made with my extracurriculars, honors, and community service all together.
On the application, they have different sections to list these things and only a "add file here" option for everything BUT the community service section.
Do I have to split up my resume and add a separate file for each section OR can I just submit my full resume under one section and leave the other sections blank?
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like they have changed the application somewhat. I’m pretty sure my son just emailed his resume directly to his admissions counselor with a note asking that it be added to his file. He also filled in all the blanks on the application - as annoying as that is on all college apps. I think a resume gives a better snapshot of the applicant and the Tulane admissions counselor assigned to our region encouraged people to email their resumes to her at the local session we attended. I am not sure if that helps, but that is how my son, a current freshman, handled it last year.

My S filled out all the blanks and uploaded his resume.

@kreativekat Thanks! I’ll find out more info about that.
@2010er There’s several spots to upload a file. Do you know which one he used, or does it not matter? Also, isn’t a resume redundant? Wasn’t all that info listed in the blanks?

It probably is redundant, but as silly as it sounds it probably makes sense to fill in all the sections AND to attach your resume. It just provides admissions with two ways to view your accomplishments. In life, you will run into lots of silly redundancies. Might as well start getting used to it.

I just got back from the info session in San Francisco, and the presenter addressed this. She said it is perfectly acceptable to just upload your resume - no need to fill out the sections. Just put “see resume” in one of the boxes.

Well OK then. That is a lot easier. Thanks for the info, Gigem. Hope you enjoyed the info session.

It is under the “Your Activities” section. It actually does say if you have a document outlining your activities you may upload it INSTEAD of filling out the form. Like I said, S did both, it can’t hurt, but maybe doesn’t help either.

@Fallenchemist, the Tulane info session was the best one we attended (and we have attended plenty). I was hoping my daughter would be talked out of Tulane, as she is on the margins for her stats, and I doubt she would get much in the way of scholarships, should she be accepted. She is so impressed by the public service aspect of Tulane, and the info session just enhanced that!

Every other college info session we attended was basically a repeat of what was found on the website. For Tulane, we felt that we learned “insider” information (the presenter was a Tulane alum as well as a member of the admissions staff, and she told us straight up what to do and not to do, and why).

I now see why Tulane is such a special school!

Thanks so much for giving me that info! So I include the file where I’m allowed to under the “Your Activities” section and write “see resume” in the first space… What about the “Academic Honors” section? That also has a separate “add a file” option; do I just write “see resume attached under ‘Your Activities’”?
And I also write “see resume” under the “Community Service” section? Also, (so sorry about these questions, I’m hoping you can answer them) the community service section says to explain my experience… Is it okay if I copy down exactly what I wrote on my common app, or do they want a longer explanation? (Mine on that app were something like: Tutor middle school students free of charge.)
So sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure I don’t make any mistakes.

@saratoga37 - The presenter only talked about the resume section, so not sure about the other sections. Maybe contact the admissions department with your specific questions, as I don’t want to steer you wrong - good luck!

@Gigem86 I talked to my friend who was accepted, and she said she filled in the blanks and also attached her resume on the first file spot. I’m just going to play it safe and do that. Thanks for responding!
