Attain a Kellogg Certificate as a transfer?

If I do end up transferring to Northwestern for Fall of 2010(junior-status), would I still be able to apply for the Kellogg Certificate program (since I am a transfer student), as long as I have the prerequisites done or in the progress of finishing them?

Also, I know that 50 students are admitted to the Kellogg Certificate program however does anyone know how many students apply for it?

Thanks!

Best way to find out: Email the program and ask.

ye im a junior transfer and doing the certificate next year. i heard 110 people applied and its pretty self selective.

^ You applied at your first winter quarter at NU right? Thanks so much!

yes, and i actually finished some prerequisites in the spring quarter. let me know if you have questions

hey drizzl, I’ll be transferring to NU in the Fall and will be a sophomore. If I want to do the cert in financial economics, is it a big deal if I just do the regular math sequence? (clearly won’t be able to do MENU as a transfer). I won’t have the pre-reqs (only doing calc 1 now-summer session at WashU) done in time to apply during my sophomore year but I’ll definitely be ready to apply during my junior year. Do you by any chance know what the average GPA is for acceptance to the program? Thanks!

drizzl,

You had at least 5 of the prerequisites done when applying, correct? Which certificate program will you be doing? And did you get the letter of recommendations for the certificate program, from the professors from your fall quarter?

Thanks !

i actually know quite a few people who did the regular math sequence and got in. also, i know some other transfers who got in (they are really smart though). overall gpa matters but your grades in the prerequisites are most important. if i had to guess you should get like an A- average in the prerequisites to be on the safe side. i never saw statistics on admitted students though.

some advice: take your intro to stats course very serious because that stuff is used a lot in math310 and econ381-1,2 ( personally, i think those are the hardest prereqs ). also, take math310 before you take the 381 sequence.

@ zack

yes, i did. ill be doing the FE program and I got one recommendation from fall and one from winter.

Thanks drizzl. What course number is intro stats?

stat210 but i think there are several flavors of that class.
