Attendance question

Hey guys,
I was wondering how attendance is handled at UF…

This may sound like a weird question for most, but I started studying in Germany, where nobody cared about attendance. All that mattered was your grade in the final (You could stay away all semester, look up lecture notes and make an A on the final and that’s fine)
Then I studied in Texas, where you could fail any class if you missed 5 classes or more than 2 consecutively…

Now, how is it at UF? Even if most Professors choose themselves, what’s most common?

Thank you in advance!

Most (if not all) classes do not take attendance. A few classes are exceptions, but almost all do not.

However, several of the first year/second year classes do give “quizzes” in class, using “clickers”. You can usually afford to miss a “few”, but it is an incentive to attend class.

Thanks! Definitely helps a lot!

I will just have to move during the semester, so I wonder how that would work out… Good thing is, all my classes, besides IUF, are 3000 level classes in my field so that should help, right?

It should. If you have a time you’re planning on being out, let your professors know ahead of time. If you can, try to pick a time when you don’t have any scheduled test (like your mid-years!).

They will definitely take attendance in classes where you have a discussion period. You can usually miss 1 or 2 discussions without it hurting your grade, though.
