Attending A Different College For Just One Semester?

As of now, I have completed 2 years of college at a four year institution. I took the fall semester of my junior year off for personal reasons and will not be able to physically go back to campus for the spring semester of my junior year. My school does not offer enough online courses that I need, so I would like to take 5 courses online at a local community college so I don
t fall behind, and return to my 4 year school for my senior year. Assuming I take the correct classes at
the community college in order to meet the graduation requirements at the 4 year school, does this sound like a plan that would work? I don
t want to transfer schools, I just want to take classes at a different school for one semester, and then return to my 4 year school. Have you ever heard of someone doing this?
Any suggestions about what I should do, or how I should go about this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You need to call your 4 year college to get written approval of the courses you intended to take from the community college.
