Posted prematurely…on the JV team. He actually preferred that school, but there was no financial aid.

I think you should take the 62% tuition offer. It is a good deal. The school will help your son academically, and he will get to play varsity hockey, as it sounds to me. Of course nothing is guaranteed…but the school is small and not top in hockey prep, so sounds like he will get playing time.

It sounds like the LPS is not a place where he’s thriving, and a good high school education is a foundation for college and life. Your son will not be able to fly under the radar, and he may even get excited about learning. He may lose confidence if he stays where he is. He can continue with his hockey and may even be encouraged to take up another sport. From what you have said, I would advise him to go.
We feel like BS dollars are probably going to end up being the best education dollars spent. The faculty are invested in the kids at a really formative time in their lives. Some kids need this level of attention and care to succeed, not just as students but as people.
@offsides it sounds like you are going into this eyes wide open, which was my concern. As long as you and your son are comfortable with the potential outcomes BS could be a good option for him. Good luck to you and him whichever route you choose.
