I would love to hear some experiences or stories involving Marist...thanks!

I cannot speak to the school, as I didn't go there, nor do I know anybody who has or is considering doing so. However, I would suggest you read some comments from students on it:

don't attend there, but met a couple friends via intercolliegate debate. Awesome people, and from the stories they've told me, sounds like a great time.

Brother went there for two years before transferring (for reasons that don't really have to do with the school), so I've been there before and know a little bit about it. Very scenic, wooded area right on the Hudson River (sometimes Marist is referred to/refers to itself as the Harvard of the Hudson). Very close to Hyde Park (FDR's residence) and some kind of culinary institute, so those would be worth checking out. I remember there being a pretty big strip mall across the street (with big stores like walmart, lowe's, etc and generic restaurants like Applebee's out closer to the street, one of those type's of places), so it's not completely isolated. Fairly decent sports teams. Their two main strong suits (last I heard) were fashion and technology. IBM has their headquarters or at least some important branch nearby, so they are pretty connected to Marist.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! It's good to see some opinions about Marist, since it's rare to see on here due to the small population.

bill the man o'reilly went to marist

I think former NBA all-star Rik Smits is more frequently identified as Marist's most famous and loved alumnus.

any opportunities for fruitful internships? any tangible examples of their track record in communications? are the professors currently working in the fields they teach? what is the story with campus security? I can’t tell from their site if photojournalism is an option. okay, if you don’t hike or want to go to one of the 3 or 4 bars, what’s up? how often and what types of on-campus concerts do they have? does the campus have strong community service programs, examples? I hear it’s “clicky” and not really tolerant of diversity — no matter how you’d define that…? the school has been open for how long? surely it has turned out some folks that have made social, professional and political contributions? What is the 411 on study-abroad offerings?
