I was admitted to SEAS and I have decided to major Operation Research and Financial engineering. Yet, I am worried because my high school does not have a strong math/science program. I mean, I will definitely try my best to succeed academically but I just wanted to ask how hard it will be for me.

FYI, I have done AP bio, AP calc ab, advanced algebra and trig, chemistry, biology and physical science. I think I will self-study physics during the summer and take the ap exam later.

you have over a year to declare a major, there’s no pressure if you decide to change your mind.

“FYI, I have done AP bio, AP calc ab, advanced algebra and trig, chemistry, biology and physical science. I think I will self-study physics during the summer and take the ap exam later.”

I think this is enough for seas, many other students would have done more, but this is what is considered normal at columbia and I don’t think you’ll be at any disadvantage.

if they’ve admitted you, they obviously believe you are capable of handling the work, if you work hard, i think you will most likely do quite well. Don’t worry about it, worry about who you are taking to prom or your last highschool event, worry about who you’ll be leaving behind in Guatemala and won’t get to see much after a few months. Cross the bridge that is college when it comes.
