I was just wondering, does going to two different ccc lower the chance of me getting accepted? I want to go to CAL. I hear there is an advantage in going to the Berkeley city college and applying from there. any thoughts, opinions?

oh and is there a transfer program to CAL?

of course not. dont be ridiculous go to the cc closest to you...you'd be an idiot if you thought the name 'berkeley' indicates any relationship between the two...in fact bcc sucks

oh and no it doesn't matter how many schools you attend..they just want to see that 60 unit requirement be met....and no there is no guaranteed transfer program to cal...just follow igetc, assist.org, talk to counselors and thats the best you can do

Hrrrm...actually a statistic was recently published where Santa Monica City College had the highest UC transfer rate, and Pasadena City College coming in second place. Even though this stat doesn't reveal the Berkeley transfer rates specifically, i'd be willing to bet that the most UCB transfers come from SMC.

*on a side note, is this what they call inductive reasoning?

TRUE that community colleges vary when it comes to instructors, selection of classes, difficulty of classes, etc etc but theoretically going to a specific cc does not give that person an advantage

and those statistics throw people off who dont use common sense (no offense, i'm not saying you dont have any, i'm just saying people dont use theirs when faced with these 'stats')..i mean think about the term 'tranfer rates' what does it mean?

compare the size of certain CCs to each other...of COURSE a community college with 20,000 students will send more students to berkeley than a school with 3000

and by the way, that doesn't even sound right to being with..dvc is the school with the highest transfer rates to berkeley..

maybe your thinking of ucla....

in the end, its all myths...if a student deserves to attend berkeley, the student will attend berkeley....= )

Parts for whole. Inductive reasoning indeed, johnnzen!

Or maybe, to add to what ilovecali is saying, those schools simply have students that perform better.

I go to SMC, Saddleback, Ventura, Moorpark, Oxnard and Irvine Valley. I wonder how they would catagorize me. :)

what?! currently? like your taking 6 classes at 6 dif CCs..or u mean over the years? lol

Wait so during the Fall and Spring semesters we're allowed to take classes @ multiple CCs? I go to Pierce and the counselor told me I couldn't take classes at other CCs during the Fall and Spring... errr...

Of course you are allowed...it is just not advised because it gets tricky.

This semester I am taking classes at Ventura, Saddleback, Moorpark and Oxnard. Overall I have gone to all 6 though.

I seriously think lacc counselors like giving out false info. :-P

You are more than free to take classes at as many CCs as you want.

I just don't recommend that you do so. Trust me. In the long run, you don't want to have to go and retrieve a bajillion transcripts at job app or grad school app time. It's a hassle.

I went to three CCs before going off the UCLA. Many people do it.

wow skwz ur counselor is an idiot
