I'm going to take my last A&P class this summer at my community college (Clark College in Vancouver, WA), then finish my Accounting Bachelor degree this fall and the following Spring at WSU. I'm a senior at Washington State and will borrow $12,500 to cover the classes at WSU. Can I borrow more cash for my summer class at Clark? Both schools financial aid calendar goes from Summer to Spring. So this would be in the same financial aid year according to both schools.

I put both schools on my FAFSA. Washington State has already set aside the 12,500 for me. I haven’t heard anything from Clark yet.

Are you and independent student borrowing the Stafford loan (just guessing that based on the $12,500 amount). If so the $12,500 is the maximum Stafford for 3rd year and up independent student for the school year so you would not be able to borrow additional Stafford. If you borrowed Stafford funds for the summer it would reduce what you can borrow for the remainder of the year.

I don’t know if you could borrow private funds for the summer, especially as it is just one class.

Thats what I figured.

Yes, i’m independent and borrowed the 12.5K via a Stafford loan. Ohh well!
