Attending UCR

Hey guys, I double posted this thread here and in the UCR thread (which seems to be less active so I was looking for some quick feedback),

So admissions for the UC system has been pretty rough, rejected everywhere except UCR and waitlisted at UCSC.
I applied as a bio major as I’m not really sure what path fits me yet, but I am trying to find my niche. In the meantime, I am trying to find as much info about the science programs, more specifically about the biology programs, at UCR.

I am aware there are internet links and I will conduct my own research as well, but if anyone can offer insight, experiences, links, anything to guide me or give me an idea of how biology is at UCR would be great. Also if there is a course plan that anyone recommends me looking into, or classes to take it would be great. I haven’t done much research on this school as I wasn’t really expecting to go here.

I’m also planning for the worst if I cannot handle biology and possibly transferring to econ? I am not entirely sure of what I should do. Any feedback from anyone and current students would be awesome.

I should think they have a good bio program and really bio is a core offering at research universities like UCR and almost any university. UCR recently started the first medical school in CA in a long time and the likely have good pre-health professional programs and advising. Bio may be a competitive major there because of the premed path and I think they may even have some special entrance priority program. Just start and take advantage of the advising programs. Even though the admissions seem though this year and you got WL at SC, UCR may be better for your major and exploring what you can do with it.

@BrownParent‌ thank you so much! And how are the economic courses and programs? I am trying to find a back up plan just in case I do not think I can handle bio.
