attention all ap us history (aka apush)

We used Pageant, and I have to admit that it was oddly endearing. It was fun counting the number of "dashing"'s or "handsome"'s used to describe public figures.

I used the America Pageant too. It was.... interesting. My teacher loved his take on Texas and the Union, with "the bride was willing, oh so willing" and something like that. But all in all, I really didn't find it that special.

We used The Enduring Vision.

We use the American Pageant 10th addition and a reader with historical essays in it.

ooh, I HATED the documents of American history or whatever that was called. dull dull dull

Oh how I LOVED the horrible puns, metaphors, and useless information of American Pageant... Harding was 6'1" and Coolidge was only 5'8"...because that's what I was supposed to be getting out of the textbook.

Honestly though, the weird descriptions made life more interesting, allowed me to take a break every page or so and show off the amusing paragraph of the moment lol. Have fun! (and I'm being totally serious, first time I've ever actually read an entire thousand+ page book. You'll start to grow attached, and then get sad when you see a boring textbook the following year).

well, that's also because the pageant is written like a novel, which isn't how a textbook should be written

my class will be using American History: A Survey

We use American Pageant 11th edition.

We had summer reading chapters 1-16 and had a test on it last tuesday... I totally failed :P ah well!

But we also have three other books: Out of their Past by Carl Degler, A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, and American Political Tradition by Richard Hofstadter.

Sucks to be us!

American Pageant has outlines online if your teacher gives fairly easy tests. :)

But I wouldn't necessarily recommend them as study guides. I tried that once and got a B- instead of my typical A/A-

"The silent crowd watched approvingly as a salty tea was brewed for the fish." LOL, major ftw there. Yay, Pageant.
