Attention all chancers

Any response would be WILDLY APPRECIATED. I have a weird GPA/SAT combination. D:

Person:

Asian Male
California
Very Competitive Public School, Graduating Class is around 900 each?

Stats:

GPA: 3.72 UW (No reason or excuse. I’m just stupid. D: )
4.03 W
4.30 UC Weighted (The bulk of my bad grades were in my freshman year. :X)

SAT: 2360 single-sitting, two sittings total, superscore 2400
SATIIs: BioM 790 MathIIC 760 USH 780
ACT: N/A
APs: Biology 5, Chemistry 4, USH 5, Language/Composition 5, Calculus AB 4
Most Rigorous Courseload, etc
School doesn’t rank!

Other stuff:

Essay: It’ll probably be reasonably good, but I’m not sure yet. :< I’m pretty sure I’ll make it unique though.
Recommendations: Above average, but probably nothing special. I might ghostwrite a rec from the law office I interned for over the summer. I think that one will be a good one.
Hooks: I’m not sure if this is a hook, but my family makes over 100k a year. However, like a lot of this goes towards supporting my mentally challenged uncle, (his apartment, treatment, medication, etc) so we never actually get financial aid but we’re still poor. D:

ECs:

-Speech and Debate, 4 yrs, 1st place in district in numerous events and State semifinalist, might be the topic of my college essay because our school doesn’t do national debate so I went to the tournaments myself with my own money and qualified for the tournament of champions ettttttc

Schools:

UCLA, UC Berkeley, Duke, Brown (ED), UChicago, Georgetown, Yale, Penn, Columbia, USC, NYU

I think that’s about it. I know I’m aiming high. :|

Wow, if you think you’re stupid with a 3.72 GPA, I will look like an idiot! Overall, I think you have a good shoot, and your GPA should not be a huge problem really because you have really good SAT scores. I would say that you have a fairly good chance at Brown if you ED, but don’t forget their acceptance rate was at an all time record low this year at about 10%. Well good luck!

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/695607-wrong-me-fall-love-these-schools-chance-me-tell.html

you have a pretty good gpa, amazing sat’s and great EC’s (TOC will stand out, or at least i hope). I’d say you have a great chance at all these schools.

i think you have a pretty good chance at most of those schools, your gpa is solid and niiiiceee sat score and amazing EC’s. i think that co-founding amnesty international will stand out, and the internships that you did will definately help. you seem well rounded, academics, music, business, involved in your school etc! good luck!

Your SAT is amazing, as I’m sure you well know, and your EC’s are awesome. Your GPA pales a bit in comparison, but it’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

You look pretty decent for all of these schools. I think you’re definitely in at UCLA and probably Berkeley and USC. NYU is a match. Georgetown is a high match. Duke is a low reach. Everything else is a reach, but they are for everyone. I don’t think you should have any problems, but you should probably have a safety or two, just to be on the careful side.

Thanks for chancing me, by the way. ;]

bump, thanks!

you def have a shot at all of them, and although your gpa is slightly lower in comparison to your standarized tests, i doubt it will be a make it or break it for you…
