Attention College Prospects!

… just finished my first year at Indiana University. I applied to the Carroll Management School at BC.

here are my stats… CHANCE ME PLZ… and any opinions would be greatly appreciative.

College STATS.
FALL SEMESTER 3.786
SPRING SEMESTER 3.944
CUM GPA: 3.87
EC: 2… Business Oriented

HIGH SCHOOL STATS
H.S. GPA 3.2
SAT SCORE 1800
MATH 710
Writing 580
Reading 510
EC… played football for 4 years.

i would say your shots probably arn’t that good. 75/1600 applicants get in usually. And only six spots are open to the Carrol school of management out of the 75. Even with a 4.0 you’d need some more things to distinguish yourself other than a high school sport for 4 years. The average transfer gpa is a 3.69 which your on track for. The highschool gpa is weak though, and if you havent been involved in anything else..

but thats just imo

i’m still waiting to here back from the school of natural science with a 4.0 as a sophomore who’s taken the weed out classes. and I’m not all that confident

i write a cocky essay… talkin about how i wanan compete agasint the best .. and learn from the best bull ****…

yeah.. so does everyone

and i just got waitlisted as a completely multiple dialect fluent bilingual in german with a 4.0 gpa having taken organic chemistry, anat and physio, genetics, physics, german IV, Gen Bio’s, Gen Chem’s everything. Was a hall senator, had mission trips, camp counceling, job shadowing, lab immunohisto chemistry research experience. varsity swimming 3 years, soccar club, ski club, honors quoir, biblestudies, church group active…

and that was for college of natural science… 1800 applicants and 75 spots man. and way less if you want to get into carol school of management.

but if i’m wrong then provs, i’ll want your email so you can write me essays for my medschool application

It not necessarily about how impressive your resume and list of extracurriculars are, especially for transfers. The transfer committee REALLY gets to know each of the students and they really try their best to pick kids who they think are the best fit for BC and the program they are looking for. Transfer admissions is really interested in the whole person, and obviously they liked you, otherwise you wouldn’t have been waitlisted. Who knows, maybe there were a lot of kids applying to CNS this year.

Either way, pawne, it sounds like you’re upset that you’re on the waitlist. BUT – That’s not a rejection!! That’s a “sorry, we just don’t have enough spots for everyone we like!” letter. There is still a chance that you could get in. Lots of transfers get accepted at more than one school, and they can only choose one in the end.

1ee – it sounds like your essay isn’t honest, you basically said so yourself. Admissions gets thousands of apps every year, and they want people who genuinely want to be there. If you’re not honest in your essay, they’ll probably see through it. If it’s “bull****” as you say, then why even write it?
