Attention: JHU overcharges for everything and provides a miserable environment

Undergrad GPA is incredibly important at the undergrad level. Many of my friends went to top 10 med schools and there is no question the GPA was a major factor. The issue with hopkins and the 85% placement is it doesn’t take into account the countless who dropped the med school track because they could not handle the pressure cooker. If you take the number of people looking to do pre-med as freshman and the number who stick with it, its a major drop off. More so I have heard, directly from the mouth of my Hopkins friends, than at other schools.

IMO its much better to go to the top school with the most grade inflation.

hmm. If a person can’t even survive Hopkins undergrad, how can they survive med school?
seriously, Hopkins is like the ultimate weeder school to test whether you are ready for the rigors of a medical education. If some can’t make the cut, then that’s too bad.

Let me tell any of you who are concerned about the tough grading policy at Hopkins, that there is no “policy.” Everyone has to work hard to do well, but I have not met anyone here who cannot cut it. Every one of my friends who wanted to go on to medical school have been accepted. In fact, they have been accepted to many of the top schools in the country, among the: 3 friends to Hopkins, 2 to Harvard, Tufts, NYU, Penn, Columbia…These are only seniors whom I know.
If you are a serious student, and are confident in your maturity and intellect, you will do more than fine at Hopkins. No worries!
