<p>ON College Board's ap stats guide, multiple choice #11..is completely confusing me..u have to solve for standard dev for the barbell problem..if anyone could help me or guide me in the right direction i would be much indebted..help please!</p>

<p>you might've gotten responses if you said which test it was for. :|</p>

<p>It's pretty damn easy, just add up the variance. Remeber that variance = standard deviation squared. Then square root the added variance to get the result.</p>

<p>4-squared = 16 </p>

<p>16 x 10 + (8 squared) = 224.</p>

<p>St. Dev = square root of 224.</p>
