Attn: Huntsman Tests Are Out!

I got an email today from Mrs. Herman saying that the tests have been sent. Your guidance couselor should recieve them tomorrow… Wednesday! Finally!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!
Good Luck, everyone!

Who's Mrs. Herman? DId everyone else get this e-mail?

i didn't apply only to huntsman but...if you get a test does that mean you're in? why would they test you if you didn't even get in?

Not neccesarily. The test is part of the evaluation process. And by everyone else, I mean everyone else who applied to Huntsman. I didn't get it...

Anyone else got the email?

so i take it you did not get it? I called Huntsman btw and they said they'd be sending out notifications tomorrow. Meanwhile, a girl last year that got into Huntsman never got the language test; maybe it's just for people on the bubble?

Nope. Didn't get it. Meh. I guess that means I am not getting the test...Bye bye Huntsman! crosses fingers for Wharton Good luck everyone!

kingb - ashley didnt get the test because her IB test score was great and she had an oral portion to that test as well.....btw, i think that the tests may be getting us at diff times, so dont worry (catch).....king - what do the "notifications" say?
thanks

hey don't worry about it, king. mrs. herman is the director of the Program and i spoke to her today. that's how i know the tests are on their way. im sure the bulk email will go out tomorrow.

for clarificaiton purposes, the test does not mean that you are in, but it is, in essence, a likely letter. from the kids already in the program, i hear it is more of a placement test than an evaluative one. most of the kids were under the impression that they had already made decisions before the tests were even taken. it just seems like the test is to make sure that you actually know the language just a little bit. i talked to ashley when i was there and she thinks that the only reason she didn't get a test was because she took the IB exam which is far more comprehensive than an AP or an SAT2. king, i wouldn't be surprised, though, if you didn't get one since you've gotten fives on both spanish lang. and spanish lit. and also an 800 on the sat2.

to back up dost, if i remember correctly, there was about a week between the day the first person and the last person posted that they had recieved their tests last year. i know this will sound comical but... just relax.

well, i didn't get the tape, and now i'm freaky out..

None of us got the tape or the email...whoa...what if everyone on CC Huntsman got a no...that would suck.

i don't think they will reject everyone on CC, maybe 5 of us will get in...

i haven't got the "official" notification either. it's just that mrs. herman told me that my gc would have it on wednesday. i'll let you know when i actually get a notification or when i actually see the test.

these are all for EDers right? When do RDers get them?

what are these tests like? how do they not know you're cheating or giving yourself an advantage or something...

the tests have three parts: multiple-choice, written, and spoken. it's relatively easy, especially for people who have already demonstrated interest in a language and who are expecting to become fluent in college. i guess there is no fool-proof way that the huntsman people can know that you are not cheating, but one thing they do is that they send the test, not to you, but to your guidance counselor. they expect him/her to be honorable, i guess, when administering the test. i don't really think it's a big deal, though, because they really just want to make sure that you know the language just a little bit. i mean, the kids in the program are not foreign language geniuses. some are really good but others are struggling in entry-level language courses.

interesting. It seems like a lot of people on this board are applying to huntsman. good luck peeps.

Dredhead, did Mrs. Herman specifically say that we are supposed to be expecting the emails/tests? It seems quite weird that the Huntsman ppl would test the kids on the day before thanksgiving. I think it may be that the tests are going to start next week. Did she mention how many tapes they've sent out this year? Good luck everyone!

Catch-- Mrs. Herman's email said that she had reviewed my application and that they would send me the language test... "Your High School counselor should receive the test Wednesday." I talked to her and she said that they don't expect the tests back until early next week. No she didn't say how many were sent out.

it'd prolly be easier if you just IMed me.

I just got a priority mailed letter, said they are sending my counselor a tape mediated exam in chinese.

Does anyone know if they are sending this to everyone this year? Because I REALLY was not expecting this. (My SATII score was, well, not too good)
