Attn. new freshman parents!

You might want to make reservations now for parent weekend (Spet 29-30-Oct 1) and maybe even for your move in date (look online for that date).

Things book up quickly in Granville and Newark.

Thanks soo much!!! My son is going to Denison!! I have my reservations being so far from Fairport, NY but he really wants this. Any suggestions on where to stay?? Pm me- I have questions about Dorms ect.. Can't wait.. Any suggestions on the August orientation???

Thanks Weenie! I just checked online and it looks like they raise the prices and want deposits for Parent's weekend so they must book up quickly! Are you familiar with either the Courtyard or Hampton (general location, etc)? I'm a member of both chains' reward points program so I figure I might as well get a free night with all the travelling back & forth we'll be doing in the next year.
We're registered for the June 10/11 orientation.....did your son go to one of the June programs?

The Hampton is only one year old and the Courtyard is fine. Both are in Newark - I think the Courtyard is slightly closer. Yes, they raise prices and rip you off with lousy cancellation policies and deposits and all that nonsense. A lot of parents end up staying out by the Columbus airport or at Easton Center. It's not very handy though.

Local places that are good are Granville Inn, Buxton Inn, and Cherry Valley Lodge. Granville Inn and Buxton Inn are closest to campus. We stay at a B&B and there are several around there I think.

The June program is great - you'll learn a lot. My son stayed in the dorm (even a lot of parents stayed in the dorm which was so funny because it was SUPER hot that weekend and no air conditioning of course). The kids make their schedules too.

Look seriously at the extended freshman orientation programs. They have like a backpacking trip, a service trip, a cultural trip, and I don't know what else. The kids have to apply to them, so if your kid wants to go they should think about that. (They do fill up to, so do a good job on the application.) The kids make really good friends on those trips.

I'll PM you kmh.
