ATTN RISING SENIORS: Bs and Cs on transcript? Subpar SAT scores? DON'T GIVE UP!!!

yeah PM me for my sn

That list is absolutely ancient. Probably from the early 90's.

I think it's really funny that you post something really inspiring to try to cheer some kids up, and the first thing everyone does is jump on you and say, "I can explain this fluke with statistics." Congratulations is all I have to say. Have you chosen where you want to go?

You are an idiot to give kids hope with your claim of "low SAT scores". The score is kinda low, I'll admit, but the score is COMPLETLY IRRELEVANT in the face of your ACT scores. I don't care if you got 10 points on the SAT, they take the highest score and convert, which for you puts you near the 75% mark at all these schools. Shame on you for giving false hope.

ive had 1 tragic incident that i've learned to overcome, no matter how i did my sophomore year. it was hard. . . but i hope explaining my overcoming would really encourage the colleges. :)
roadrunner24k - ur too cool :)

WOW...I missed your ACT score when I read your post yesterday.

NO surprise that you got into Northwestern based on your ACT score!! Like drummerdude_07 said, schools only take the highest score. 32 ACT is definitely not a sub par score for elite colleges.

"That list is absolutely ancient. Probably from the early 90's."

The stats have not changed much in the past 10 years there, cheif!

Um, actually yes they have, coach

Sorry about giving false hope. It's strange that when I posted in "what are my chances" threads earlier this year asking about my SAT vs. ACT discrepancy, peoples' attitudes were totally different. They told me stuff like: "Even though they are technically only suppose to look at the highest score, admission officers are human - your SAT score is rather low."

Oh well.

Hey roadrunner, I'm really really glad to see you got into U of M with those stats! My SAT is 1990 but ACT 29, just one additional scrap from you would be nice, what's your class rank? (hopefully they rank you guys?)

At least 7% cause you got the 15k scholarship?, but maybe those standards aren't so strict.

My school does not rank, with the sole reason being that there is no need to put more pressure on the students than there already is. From this, I think you can probably get an idea of how competitive my public school is.

I don't think any of your schools are shocking with your stats.

You really give me hope! :) I hate how everyone is bashing your post just because they want to disprove how a "good but not excellent" student got into such an amazing school such as NU, haha. May I ask what was your weighted GPA (if your school weights?) I have a low GPA also, but I LOVE NU. I did well on the SAT I/IIs, so I'm hoping for a chance like yours. I'll try to work my ass off for my essays too, haha. (I'm just not terribly creative, blah) Did you send your reason for your grades essay as a seperate essay from the ones asked? (as in like... a little notice for the admissions staff to read) Did you send that to every single one of the schools you applied to?

I'm not sure if I should do that too... I mean, I have no reason for my grades either. I just didn't try hard enough, I guess. I'm not sure if that would tip the scales in my favour or not, lol.

Anyways, thank you for your post :)! I may not have applied to NU otherwise (thinking it was futile! haha)

I think the weighted GPA was something along the lines of a 3.7-3.8. GPAs really dont mean anything in this case though, because all schools weigh differently. If you want I can say what I got in each class from frosh to senior year, but only if you want. I'm not wasting my time otherwise. haha.

There's no reason to not apply to NU next year. It's commonapp. - though i'm sure their supplementary crap will be a beeetch
