I’m a female applying to SCS too centimeters!

I’m definitely really nervous, I’ve already gotten into a few UC’s but Carnegie will be the first of the main grouping of schools I want to go too I’ll find out from, so I feel like if I get rejected here it will set the trend for a string of rejections for the next week.

I’m just concerned because academically I think I line up ok, and being female helps, but I really don’t have any experience in computer science (I’ve taught myself some, but my school doesn’t offer AP comp sci or anything).

no way, i need that space!! :D

just kidding, we can share.

anyone else here a girl applying to SCS?

^ me! haha good luck everybody

haha don’t worry about your school not offering AP CS… i got a 4 on it, awkward.

SCS was my second choice (CIT ECE being my first)…so no, I don’t think I’ll be seriously considered for it. :)

I guess I’m alone in MCS.
,____,

mee 2 ~0~ i hope i can get in

Here! I’m a girl applying to SCS. It feels like a super long shot T.T I have little to no programming experience when I applied. Currently taking a java course and not loving it too much.

hectorbo, hey there! I assume you’re in a JC now? My first choice is CompSc under the SCS >__<

urgh I didnt put any second choice. genius right?

So, how often do ppl get rejected from their first choice and accepted into the second?

I’m really worried cos I have three colleges listed and would I get rejected from all of them?

@arekanderina actually graduated JC last december. but unfortunately, i’m not a girl so I guess it’s harder. :(

haha, too bad about the second choice but you’ll be probably get into SCS! good luck! :)

@hectorbo

all of the school have such different standards that it would be hard to tell. but i definitely wouldn’t assume that since you got rejected from one that you’d get rejected from another.

Hrmmmm. What drew you to CS arekanderina? I know a lot of the stereotypical nerds are into it because of the coding (me, not so much).

Please don’t say money…

We should start something to distract ourselves for the next hour and a half or so.

Money is a bad answer for any major choice, imo. ;p

anybody play Team Fortress 2? :)

So…tempted…must do Jap homework instead of play TF2…

Here’s my distraction contribution…that made no sense:

LOL

foxfirebass, hecterbo, I was originally interested in programming, honest! Mucked about in matlab, thought it was cool, decided to do that for the rest of my life. Also, job opportunites. Urgh typical Asian family yah. But now… I’m not so sure anymore T.T Java is a chore!

My true passion is still Biology! I plan to minor in Bioinformatics (might just convert entirely into a Biology major, but i’ll just wait and see how it goes) Job prospects for Bio majors here suck big time though.
