AU Class of 2017 ED II

Anyone as excited and anxious as me although there’s more than a month or two before decisions are released. Anyway this thread is for anyone applying ED II and just wants to talk about information related to it.

Hi! I applied E.D II as well and I am anxiously waiting to hear back! Hopefully we’ll hear back before the February 15 deadline!

I hope so too, this wait has been driving me crazy. I’m not sure when we’ll find out but there was a thread where two applicants found out on Valentine’s day.

well, only 22 days left so we won’t have to wait much longer! I wish the best of luck to you!

I’ve also been looking at a lot of the threads from previous years. It seems as though most E.D. I applicants heard before the December 31st deadline but most E.D. II applicants hear back pretty close to the Feb. 15 deadline.

Good luck to you too!

only 12 days left till we hear back! anyone else apply E.D. II?

My daughter applied EDII. Wondering if we will hear back anytime soon…maybe before Feb. 15. Good luck to everyone!

I heard we’ll find out on Friday. Maybe on Valentine’s day given last year that’s when applicants found out.

AU Admissions on Facebook just posted:

ED II applicants, make sure to keep an eye on your mailbox this weekend! Let us know if you are #admittedAU

–

Best of luck to all ED II applicants!

This weekend? I thought we were going to hear back today.

EDIT: WOW we’re finding out in the mail.

EDIT 2: I am thoroughly surprised by this. As this website is confidential, I’m just gonna say, I’m pretty shocked that they haven’t decided to announce online yet. That’s appalling.

Notifying admitted students is one of the things American does badly. For several years now, letters have gone out in an agonizingly long trickle. Some kids get phone calls, some don’t.

A person could get very turned off by that experience. They really should do something about it.

Yeah, they haven’t done online notification in a while, according to past applicants. But according to the unofficial prospective student page on facebook, some students received a call from their rep yesterday letting them know they got accepted.

apparently the letters went out yesterday (or so i’ve heard)

If that’s the case most of us may not receive a decision until next week.

the latest they have given out phone calls is about 6:30 so I’m still praying that I might get a call tonight. who knows. but other than that, I don’t think they’ll be continuing phone calls next week.

I’m on the same boat as you, hopefully everything works out.

Has anyone actually received confirmation that they are in fact phoning people? That makes me perilously nervous. If that’s the case, I haven’t been called yet. And it’s 5:44 EST, although I’m central time.

Oh god

It depends on the admissions rep.

not to worry – not everyone gets a phone call. some people don’t and they still receive their acceptance letter a few days later. but some people have indeed received phone calls (yesterday). I just wish I did because after today I’m away for the weekend and I won’t be able to look in my mailbox until Tuesday ! (the nerves…)

I came on tonight because I wanted to say a few things I thought may be helpful.

 1. Phone calls are probably just a courtesy for the students they know well.(can you say who yours is without looking at your email or online?) It’s out of their personal time too, so they could be wanting to enjoy their weekend too. Plus, it is not an indication of a student’s decision - it’s clear many students are admitted without one.
 2. I’ve been told that they release by mail because they like having everything together in the letter (financial aid and 3 year programs in particular). Personally, I don’t mind this too much. I hate the idea of waiting for weeks after for the rest of the details.
 3. They only reason it seems like AU doesn’t have their stuff together with notifying is because we now all know instantly of decisions and who gets them first because of websites like this and facebook. They’ve been pretty clear on when everything’s released (they even mentioned via twitter). Coming on here just makes me nervous!

Just some thoughts… And maybe it’s best to disconnect for a few days to lower the nerves (why this is my first post ;)).

that’s actually really helpful. I don’t mind the mail delivery. I am just very anxious and giddy to find out my status (:
