I didn’t apply to the honors college because I don’t plan on attending

That means you will be able to get all kinds of information from a professional way.

Kat2013, the Freshman Day is April 19th for everyone (not just Washington Mentorship Program attendees). The students who were recommended for the Washington Mentorship program will see “Spring 2014” on their acceptance papers, so if your son’s paperwork says “Fall 2013”, then he was officially admitted as an incoming freshman for this fall.

Chyifa, AU is “American University” in Washington, DC:

[American University Washington D.C. | Schools, Colleges, Undergraduate, Graduate, Admissions, Academics, Degrees, Faculty](http://www.american.edu)

Eschloss, there was no separate application for the Honors program at AU. The school picks the “top” students among all of the accepted applicants and invites them into the Honors program.

I’m confused. I just saw all this stuff with the portal and tried to create an account but I don’t have an AU ID. I went back through my emails and looked at everything I got including the email from when I created the prospective student portal, and I looked at that portal. And can’t find the number. Where can I find it?

I believe that the AU ID is at the bottom of each e-mail in small print. It’s a 7-digit number.

I was accepted into the honors college. I also got the Frederick Douglass scholarship without even applying for it (weird huh…). I got $12000 a year for that scholarship.

Stats: 2010 SAT 3.9 UW GPA 5.33/6.0 W GPA. Ranked 1/220. African American female accepted into biochemistry program.

EmilyCarl, the Washington Mentorship Program was discussed last year here:

I definitely suggest that you read both of the above threads.

Thank you. I will put this college in my college plan.

@ghroth24- I’m probably not somebody you could get a very good feel from as I don’t even know my exact GPA. However, I would estimate 3.8ish unweighted. I have no idea what the weighted would be, but that is at a rigorous private school including four APs and a bit of an upward trend with a 4.0uw senior year with three APs. SAT: Writing 790, Reading 750, Math 620 (I might have improved the math with studying, but the test was at the end of finals week so it is what it is). But if I had to guess, it was less my hard stats that got me in and more subjective things like very well thought-out essays, several emails with my adm rep, excellent teacher recs, great ec’s, and unique life experience such as study abroad/community service in China and Mongolia. Hope this helps!

Also, is anyone else considering one of the three-year programs??

According to this page:

[Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program, American University](American University Washington D.C.)

the Frederick Douglass Scholarship pays for full tuition, room & board, etc., and requires a special application. They must have changed it this year (AU website often has outdated info), since MyRaven11 got $12K and didn’t fill out any special application for it.

@LR41510 - thanks so much! By any chance is there a write up on it on their website? I looked & all I found was info on the WMP for that day.

Regarding University College - I get the difference between that & the Honors Program. My beef is that they made it a big deal & they S13 was “invited” b/c of his stats, when in reality all are “invited”. Just call it what it is, an invitation to apply for this program.

For all accepted, congrats! You all worked hard & it paid off.

Mine is doing the same thing to me @iamMarc I’m going to keep trying because I can’t wait until Monday to know

I got in, and my aid package was $25,000 without the work study and govt. loans included. I have very little intention of going here and I only really applied for the fun of it and in case I somehow got rejected to all my others, but it feels good to get in. Good luck to everyone else.

How did you create a new password? @kearbear

Hi all. I also have tried logging onto the portal and it said that my AU ID was not recognizable. The school was not a safety by any means for me, but I really was confident that I was going to be accepted with my stats:

SAT: 1990
GPA: 4.33/4.3
Rank: 37/364

Does anybody know if the New Jersey area has gotten acceptance letters yet or when they are expected if they have not been received yet? I’m really hoping that this does not necessarily mean that I was not accepted.

When anybody hears anything from the New Jersey area, please respond on this post!

Thank you all so much and congratulations to all of you who have gotten in!!

Ok, so I set up the account and found the Enrollment Agreement page and it said I was accepted! But I can’t find my financial aid award; where is that supposed to be?
