My stats are pretty good and I’ve already been accepted to five other schools including Villanova, GW, and Northeastern, but my ID isn’t registering. Plus, a girl from my school received her acceptance letter today in the mail and I havent received anything…

I’m in the same boat as others with being unable to register my ID. It looks like the portal is having a lot of technical difficulties as it is, so I don’t think it’s outside of the realm of reason to think that this may also be a technical issue, although I initially took it to mean rejection. I have a 2250 SAT/~4.0 UW GPA - my ECs/essays aren’t the greatest, but I have been admitted to Brandeis, BU, and Northeastern so far. The only thing is, I didn’t really have any demonstrated interest with AU, and even now I’m questioning my decision to apply since I likely won’t end up attending - it would still be nice to know if I got in or not, though, just to have another option. I’m hoping to receive official notification on Monday so I guess we’ll all just find out soon enough without having to get all anxious over these theories :)

Was anyone else’s acceptance letter personalized?

@ 1erin1 go to myAU.american.edu Web Portal | American University
underneath in yellow it says reset an expired or forgotten password in yellow in the
log in screen under password click on it

I have my ID number that it’s asking for but what about the username section @kearbear? I haven’t gotten one of those

@gbaby91 I think mine was personalized. It said that they really liked my supplement. What did your letter say?

It said that they were very impressed by my resume and that I showed a lot of initiative in starting a nonprofit and that I am an innovative thinker and that is why they want me at AU

@gbaby91- all the ones I have seen on instagram have been personalized except for one. I am assuming theirs wasn’t personalized because they had no significant contributions to society? Just solid stats? Don’t know~ But I don’t know what is up with AU or the mail system… I know a few people in TX who have been admitted yet my friend who lives there has heard nothing. I have seen a couple acceptances in NY so I don’t know why you wouldn’t hear in NJ?
Basically, if you don’t feel like forging back 18 pages haha, here’s the thing: a few of us can’t log in either. Don’t worry about it as the letter in the mail is the only official way to tell your standing. Hard to wait, but we can bear through it :D

Your username is the first and last initial, the last four digits of your AU ID, and an a. Ex:sr2567a.
Do the forgot your password thing and now include the username. It should work. It worked for me

@gbaby91 Mine was personalized. They said that my essay was inspirational (I wrote about a little boy who I took care of in a Ghanaian orphanage) and that I was globally aware and committed to helping other people.

We haven’t heard yet in Mass. I’m assuming tomorrow.

So were the letters mailed out on Thursday or Friday?? I’ve heard both dates. I’m from SC but I’m hoping I get my letter tomorrow.

S. FL here hoping for tomorrow.

My D can get into the site, but since we didn’t apply for fin aid there is no info there and her enrollment status still is for Grad School of Comm as it has been for a few days and she is applying as an incoming freshman. No letter in the USPS. I am not optimistic at this point, but am trying to crack the code in preparation for the official decision from the school. Is anyone else still seeing what I am seeing?

D has the option of paying her admission deposit and housing deposit at the enrollment page. I doubt that they would accept money if she was not accepted.

@LR4150 I was speaking of the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program that i didn’t apply for

Jennee, no clue what’s happening this year, but in past years AU has mailed letters out in batches over a few days.

Another thing to reassure you guys who cannot log in to the portal right now: My friend hasn’t been able to log in all weekend- she lives in Texas- and she now was miraculously able to and she got accepted! Don’t sweat it if you can’t log in now :)

How do you view your financial aid once accepted?

@emshi230- Your financial aid is included in the admissions packet they send you!
