AU Class of 2017 Regular Decision

@emshi230 - you can view your FA package on the portal by clicking on the finances tab, then scroll down to financial aid award letter.

This is so weird. My FA award letter isn’t there, but I DO have a link that says “Accept Financial Aid Award” which lists a large grant, merit aid, Pell Grant, work study and loans but NOT the COA, EFC or what my need is. I’m surprised that they expect me to take out over 8000 a year in loans, but the site is pretty useless if I don’t know what they want me to pay!

waitlisted…
4.5 w 2040 sat
female from MA

idk this was my safety and my brother got in with a 2.7 and i have the highest gpa to ever apply from my school. eh. blep. ok.

Zschattz, I suspect they knew they were your safety and assumed you’d go elsewhere.

D was admitted, but for spring. I haven’t looked into AU to closely, is that typical?

I was waitlisted. I had a 2250 SAT/4.0 UW GPA. I think a large part of it had to do because I showed no demonstrated interest and even after submitting my application, I kind of questioned whether I would actually end up attending if I got in (not just saying that because I’m bitter, although I admittedly am a bit disappointed). I’m in MA, so I wasn’t sure if I would want to contend with travel and whatnot going to school so far away. I think my Why AU essay was also pretty generic. Goes to show that stats certainly aren’t everything. I guess being unable to register my AU ID was indeed a sign. Anyways, I’ve been accepted to Brandeis, Northeastern, and BU (the latter 2 with merit scholarships & honors programs) so I’m happy as it is  Congrats to all who got in!

@mamel94 if you dont mind, what is your intended major at northeastern. I was also accpeted in the honors program. Congrats to all who got in.
I love DC and american U

I applied to the School of Social Sciences & Humanities for International Affairs. They gave me an $18k Dean’s scholarship, but unfortunately it was still far too expensive (NEU gave me approx. $15k less than Brandeis & BU).

Son was accepted! SAT: 2070, GPA: 3.7 UW GPA, caption of soccer club team 4 years, soccer coach for youth group, high interest in economics/business, CA resident. Son is unsure if he wants to leave CA. Found out through the portal, still awaiting the mail confirmation. Got the Dean’s scholarship of $10K for the year (but still very expensive school). Will be visiting the University next week (for the first time).

Accepted with the same FA package shown online, than goodness. I was hoping for the honors program, but oh well.

Where are all of you getting your decisions? The “Prospective Student” Portal? Mail? E-mail?

I was just rejected by Fordham, BU a few days ago, and seeing as I can’t set up a my.au… account, it looks like another one…

Accepted to the University College with no financial aid. From IL. This was one of my safety schools. How do people pay the $70k+ tuition when they’re in my shoes?

Got my package in mail today. FA matched what was on portal. Also got invited to honors which was a pleasant surprise. I love the fact that they personalize the acceptance letters. Little things like that mean alot and they definitely earned some brownie points with me.

@AdviceINeed: Unfortunately, I think being unable to set up an AU account is correlated with being rejected/waitlisted - at least for me it was. I received official notification in the mail today.

The personalization in the letter is pretty generic because I didn’t write about community service and it said that my essay “demonstrated an outstanding involvement in the community.” But the admissions packet was very nice!

I was waitlisted with a 32 on the ACT, 17/444 and great ECs. It was my safety school and I showed literally no interest, so I don’t care at all.

Anyone else get the Spring semester admission my D received? I haven’t seen the letter as I am at work, but I guess it references doing a mentor ship program during the fall? I did a quick search and didn’t find anything, so any insight is appreciated.

Waitlisted. 2200 SATs, 3.79 UW.

I sense a (yield protecting) pattern.

I’m afraid the Admissions Office told a little white lie last week. If registration on Student Portal does not recognize the AU ID from the bottom of previous emails- equals small letter. Or at least that is the case for my daughter.

@organgecontrol, I think you may be referring to the Washington Mentorship program. Look it up!
