I meant it the other way around, first unweighted, then weighted.

Accepted!!
Refreshed the page and got the “Enrollment” option thing, screamed for 80 seconds and opened it:P Turns out it’s for Spring 2014 but I’m still happy to have AU as an option:D

@mamel94 - I think you have a very good point. I’m interested to hear from others who were waitlisted or rejected, who had high stats, what kind of interest they showed - to see if there really is some kind of connection there. AU has made it known that demonstrated interest is a big factor for them. That was one of my biggest concerns - that I didn’t show enough interest. I did visit AU this past summer, but other than that, I didn’t really have much contact with them, other than a couple of emails. I did, however, talk about my visit in my “Why AU?” statement, so maybe that’s what made the difference for me. I don’t know. I’m also curious as to how much of an impact the essays have on decisions. I had a very good essay and that was something that they mentioned in my acceptance letter. Just a thought…

In the Common Data Set, AU says that demonstrated interest is “very important.” If someone is serious about the school, even if you consider it a safety, you have to show them the love. Ds met with the rep at his school, went to at least one evening session, applied for the Frederick Douglass, took part in a couple of those online chats. I don’t remember what else.

I have a 2320 and 3.9uw and got in. I visited once and talked to my admissions rep when he came to my school, but I didn’t think my why AU essay was particularly impressive. I also submitted my app just a day or two before the deadline. Honestly, I was pretty worried about being waitlisted because I did use AU as my safety.

I’m pretty sad I’m waitlisted, I had a 2030 SAT, 31 ACT and a 4.0 uw, plus leadership in a lot of ecs.
I think they didn’t think I was very interested in the school but in reality I just couldn’t afford to go down to Washington and see it before knowing if I was accepted. Oh well.

I got accepted.

I have 2340 SAT, 4.4 GPA, 4.0 UW. Very politically active in extracurriculars, have taken 13 AP classes, self studied for two also. Got all 5s, 4s on the two I self studied. Congratulations on all accepted! For people who got waitlisted, I was really surprised, yall had great statistics, and I’m sure you’ll be accepted if you show interest…thanks to all who post on this site, I used it soooo much during the college search.

Congratulations to all who were accepted to AU’s class of 2017. For those with high stats that were waitlisted, it well may have been because they thought AU was your safety school. Many of you even said so in your posts. Don’t feel bad as it was not your first choice to begin with. If you are really interested in attending, send letters to your admission rep saying you would like to attend, and you may get off the waitlist. Otherwise, you will be happy at whatever school you do attend.

AU was my daughter’s safety as well, but she showed lots of interest and is now a sophomore at AU.

I was accepted to AU 3-year Politics, Policy and Law program with a 30 ACT and a 3.8 GPA. They also gave me a partial Frederick Douglass Scholarship.

I’m not sure if I’m going to attend AU yet, but I just want to post this for any future applicants - my AU portal did not have the Enrollment Agreement when I set it up a few days before receiving my letter. I have it now, however, which makes sense. It just goes to show how these theories we see on CC are really just theories, and we have to remember to not read too much into them. Congrats to everyone who got in!

I’m accepted with honors program and presidential scholarship

I have a 2180, 3.93 gpa, 740 us history, 770 biology m, and 790 chemistry satII, 33 act

I was a part of my schools marching band including 3 state championships and marching in the macy’s thanksgiving day parade, international club, beta club, young democrats, and helped to found a classic film club. I think my recommendations were really good and my essays were okay. I did visit the campus though. Still not sure if I am attending though.

@serenamae1216 - if you don’t mind me asking, where are you from? I was also in my high school’s marching band. We didn’t get to March in the Macy’s parade but we did in the dunkin donuts in PA. Then we went to NYC right after and had a blast.
Congrats on your acceptance.

Wait listed, 1540/2290 SAT, top 3% class, all 5’s on AP exams through jr year (eng comp, us and euro history, psych), 9 AP’s overall, lots of focus on running (4 yr letter in c-c, indoor/outdoor track), but not tons of other activities, some community service, from DC area. Probably wl because of interest in pre-med (not what AU is known for), late filing of application a few days before deadline, and lack of demonstrated interest. Congrats to all who got in!

Muckdogs, I think it was probably just the lack of demonstrated interest in your case.

AU has some premeds, and it would like to have more, I think. But it can never become a place you think of for premedical studies unless it actually enrolls more premeds.

And “a few days before the deadline” isn’t filing late; it’s filing on time.

But that “demonstrated interest” thing? That’s essential, especially for an applicant with high grades and test scores who is actually seriously considering AU. They really want to admit students who will seriously consider attending, and the really don’t want to admit students who won’t.

Good luck to you next fall, wherever you’ll be.

Yo I still havent gotten my letter and I live in NJ!
