My daughter got the same email. I think it was just a confirmation email. No need to respond if everything is correct.

I didn’t get anything…I don’t know what that means. I applied for Political Science.

My stats are 2220 SAT and 34 ACT, and 3.93W GPA in top 25 percent

D1 got that email too. Didn’t do anything.

I just got an email saying I wasn’t chosen for the Frederick Douglas full-ride It said decisions will come out the third week of March.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing about the decision day :)

A few questions–do you know the actual projected date of decision notification? Also, will the decision be online? We are in China and mail can take 4-6 weeks (if we even get it…)

Will merit awards be sent at the same time?

Very anxious in shanghai!

When I had my Skype interview with my admissions officer, he said American was hoping to mail its decisions on March 21st.

OMG! I’m so nervous! … called my representative today and they said letters are being mailed next week. I asked if i would get an email and she said only international students get emails because of the timing

Eeeh I’m so excited! This is my top choice. I’m in love with DC and fell in love with AU last August when my dad and I visited. I’m really hoping everything works out.

I visited in June and loved it also. I’m really nervous about my decision. I don’t feel that I’ve shown enough interest, and I really think it’s going to hurt me.

I also did not get an email… I wonder why only some people got emails…

Am I to understand that the method of transmitting RD acceptance/rejection is by snail mail? Does that include notice of Merit, as well? Are all the letters sent at the same time? Is there any change on the portal or is an email sent? What is the anticipated date? Thanks for you input and I apologize if this was discussed somewhere else.

I heard that decisions would be mailed on Friday the 22nd. I’ve also heard that you cannot get your decision via the student portal. I haven’t heard anything about emails, but I do know that some people who were accepted ED actually received a phone call from their counselor. AU is great in alot of ways, but from what I’ve heard, decision notification is not one of them.

The year my daughter was accepted to AU, the University of Delaware erroneously sent out e-mails to students informing them that they were accepted when in fact they were not. My D did not apply to Delaware, but decisions for Delaware that year came out the same weekend as AU’s, and it was hard to avoid all the posts on CC by angry parents and students that weekend.

This year another school, I think in Minnesota, did the same thing. It is easy to make a mistake when sending out e-mails. AU may be resorting to snail mail to avoid making such a mistake. Or possibly they are trying to emulate what other schools are doing. Georgetown sends decisions by snail mail.

Both of my kids heard from AU via email about a week before the snail mail envelope arrived - one in 2010 and one last year. Last year we also managed to log into the portal after getting the email to see the financial aid award. Good luck to those waiting this year. I know it can be a stressful time.

I called today and the letters are for sure being sent out on Thursday the 21st!

Yay! Thanks for sharing

Collegemama13, from the images I have seen on AU’s twitter the acceptance letter does notify you of merit award and an invitation to the honors college. I know it comes snail mail for sure, and they claim they don’t send emails, but every single one of my accepted friends last year received an email before the actual letter came. I can’t say for sure that email will be sent this year or not because decisions change every year among committees. On my student portal I don’t see an “application pending” post or anything so I doubt they would put it on there.

Someone posted on Instagram a photo of their acceptance letter that’s dated march 19, 2013. That makes me think acceptances have already been mailed but then again someone said they were going out Thursday. I’m so confused…

I just called and no decisions out until Thursday e 21st for sure. Sorry guys.
