I’d say yes and no. In part, I’m sure many that apply to American also apply to Gtown and GW. But - let’s not mistake it - admissions difficult wise, Gtown is two steps up.

I’m sure there is part to what you are saying. But I also think this year, as students applied to far more schools than normal because of TO, colleges have no idea how many will accept. So they are hedging their bets by keeping a bench.

U of South Carolina, for example, which is not a hard admit, has wait-listed a lot.

TO - even though some schools already were - has really messed up the college calculations as most are getting far more apps yet there is not many more students, etc. Also, there are deferrals from last year that they have to see - are they coming or not.

My daughter’s honors acceptance was in acceptance letter.

Does anyone know if they will have admitted student days?

Besides those that were accepted to honors, has anyone gotten a rejection from honors? Mine still says submitted.

My son’s was included in his acceptance letter

If I make a myAU portal account am I technically enrolling or do I have to pay the deposit for American to think I’m enrolling?

That’s totally rational on their part as I was waitlisted from AU with a 1550 SAT, 4.99 W and 4.0 UW GPA, relatively strong EC’s and essays but very low interest reflected in ‘Why American?’. I got deferred from Georgetown EA though so the yield isn’t helping me right now :grimacing: lol

you have to pay to enroll - making an account is standard for admitted applicants to see their financial aid and stuff. I have accounts at like four schools lol so def make a myAU account!

kinda unrelated but does anyone know when we hear from gw?

i would bet friday. It may be thursday though, given when EDI + EDII were released.

Here is some clarification for the cornerstone program straught from an official rep I emailed, “Cornerstone is an optional program. If you start AU traditionally, you will not pursue the internship or study abroad opportunity.”

So you are not actually a matriculating student if you are in the cornerstone program? But it says you are accepted to AU with a merit scholarship. But if you do cornerstone you aren’t officially an AU student? I’m confused

So my son never got an email and he was locked out of the portal and couldn’t reset his PW. Tried resetting it many times but the links never worked. Tried calling the help desk and it was VERY difficult to get through. Finally got through around 5:30pm and he was able to get his PW reset by a very helpful tech guy and the decision was there. He was accepted for Public Relations and Strategic Communications. Weird that he never got an email though- his decision has just been sitting there since yesterday…

Historically that is what the program has been. It appears that they have changed it so now it is just optional for any AU student who is offered the program.

It could’ve gone to spam. They also posted the announcement on all of their social media channels.

So I’m not sure what to make of the cornerstone program. Doesn’t seem like it’s quite the opportunity they try to make it out to be in the acceptance letter. Would this make it harder to get classes or graduate on time? Can you shed light on what the experience is like for non-honors students. My daughter has great scores, 13 AP’s all 5/4 4.5 GPA and was not accepted to the honors program. How difficult is it to get classes and internships if not in the honors college ? Does it feel like two different schools?
