My son was waitlisted (aka Denied. Last year American took ZERO kids from the waitlist)
34 ACT (first and only try) didn’t take SAT
4.0 GPA, all Honors and AP classes
Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, captain/founder of Debate team, numerous leadership positions
Yes he considered American his “safety” school, did not actively demonstrate interest but would have seriously considered it among his options, since he only applied to four schools.
He is accepted at Northeastern (“Nu-In” program), still waiting to hear from Georgetown and George Washington. He seriously doubts he will get into Georgetown. Fingers crossed for GW.
I got accepted and am grateful but received a 13K scholarship that won’t be enough for me to attend. I was a FDDS finalist but I’m pretty sure I didn’t get in because I am in the AU scholars program now? i am disappointed that i didn’t receive any grants
Can’t speak for financial aid but last year they didn’t take ANY kids from the waitlist. Each year is different, but I would say the chances are not high.
Yeah quite the mix of schools. He was looking for a medium sized private school with some merit - not 1,500, not 40,000 - also not out in the boonies and not too far. Bio is one major you can find everywhere.
Nothing in mail today in Maryland but accepted via portal so I don’t think the order things are mailed has anything to do with whether or not you were rejected.
Accepted MA! 3.72 GPA, 31 ACT, visited twice, good ECs. Surprised, I was denied BU and Northeastern but accepted BC so wasn’t sure how this would go but happy! Still waiting on GW
I got waitlisted in NorCal today! I’m really happy, since it is my dream school. I know that no one got off the waitlist last year, but so many schools overadmitted last year, so maybe there is hope? (People did get off in 2016). If anyone has advice on what could increase my chances I would appreciate it. For those interested, here are my stats:
Gpa - 3.42
Sat - 1370
ECs - amazing
Essays and supplemental - 10/10, won an award for my common app essay
Any feedback would be appreciated. I am also low middle class in NorCal (<$70k) so financial aid matters a lot.
Reposting this here, I did not look close enough to realize this was the main AU 2022 Thread.

Waitlisted in Rhode Island. 4.96 weighted GPA, 32 ACT, class president two years and now student council president, 4 year field hockey goalie, stage manager of huge musical production, lots of honors societies and clubs.
