Au rd 2022

My son was waitlisted (aka Denied. Last year American took ZERO kids from the waitlist)

34 ACT (first and only try) didn’t take SAT
4.0 GPA, all Honors and AP classes
Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, captain/founder of Debate team, numerous leadership positions

Yes he considered American his “safety” school, did not actively demonstrate interest but would have seriously considered it among his options, since he only applied to four schools.

He is accepted at Northeastern (“Nu-In” program), still waiting to hear from Georgetown and George Washington. He seriously doubts he will get into Georgetown. Fingers crossed for GW.

I got accepted and am grateful but received a 13K scholarship that won’t be enough for me to attend. I was a FDDS finalist but I’m pretty sure I didn’t get in because I am in the AU scholars program now? i am disappointed that i didn’t receive any grants

Waitlisted. My stats are 1330 SAT, 3.85 unwieghted GPA, 4.1 weighted, solid ECs but no DI because I didn’t know that was a factor.

Anyone know what my chances for getting accepted are, and what financial aid for people off the waitlist is like?

Can’t speak for financial aid but last year they didn’t take ANY kids from the waitlist. Each year is different, but I would say the chances are not high.

STILL nothing in the mail and no portal. So disorganized!

Still nothing in CT. It’s incredibly frustrating.

@collegedad2018

Yeah quite the mix of schools. He was looking for a medium sized private school with some merit - not 1,500, not 40,000 - also not out in the boonies and not too far. Bio is one major you can find everywhere.

Nothing in MA, no update on portal either, probably will be rejected. S was rejected by schools of similar ranking.

Nothing in mail today in Maryland but accepted via portal so I don’t think the order things are mailed has anything to do with whether or not you were rejected.

waitlist with 31 ACT 3.8 UW GPA 4.5 W GPA but I’m not gonna accept a spot on the waitlist

Accepted MA! 3.72 GPA, 31 ACT, visited twice, good ECs. Surprised, I was denied BU and Northeastern but accepted BC so wasn’t sure how this would go but happy! Still waiting on GW

I got waitlisted in NorCal today! I’m really happy, since it is my dream school. I know that no one got off the waitlist last year, but so many schools overadmitted last year, so maybe there is hope? (People did get off in 2016). If anyone has advice on what could increase my chances I would appreciate it. For those interested, here are my stats:
Gpa - 3.42
Sat - 1370
ECs - amazing
Essays and supplemental - 10/10, won an award for my common app essay

Any feedback would be appreciated. I am also low middle class in NorCal (<$70k) so financial aid matters a lot.

DD has been accepted in the Honors Program! So excited over here in NV!

Reposting this here, I did not look close enough to realize this was the main AU 2022 Thread.

I just got my RD acceptance packet for the School of Business on Thursday.

SAT 1390
GPA 98.892 Unweighted
EC: President of the Wall St. Club, Captain of the Stock Trading Team, Varsity Sailing, Academic Challenge Teams, STEM, Competitive Target Shooting, President of TED X Chapter, and Manager of my Schools Social Media Accounts.

In regards to work experience I have worked for the US House of Representatives with a Member Office for a little under three years. I also had letters of recommendation from multiple ranking members of Congress and their staffs.

My son got his acceptance in South Jersey today. No visits, so supplemental essays, and no money

Waitlisted in Rhode Island. 4.96 weighted GPA, 32 ACT, class president two years and now student council president, 4 year field hockey goalie, stage manager of huge musical production, lots of honors societies and clubs. Essay may not have been strong enough. We visited last November. It’s ok…she got into BU honors, Northeastern honors with $20k, Fordham with $32k…a few others. Only mention that so others waitlisted or denied know their in pretty good company. Congrats to those accepted!

Devastated. AU was my top choice.
