Au rd 2022

@TL2018 The financial info was all in S’s packet. Imagine it would probably be on portal too. S got that on University College too. I was wondering if everyone did? Looked it up, sounds like a good 1st year living/learning community.
@SadSunflower, very sorry and hope you get off waitlist. Helping 1st kid with college process, and seeing so many strange results, I’ve decided it’s like throwing a dart. Some land, some don’t. Please don’t take it personally. And, it’s possible you’ll get off waitlist. Hang in there!

Are you referring to the prospective new student portal? Did the message change over from your application is complete and being reviewed?

Wait, are you all receiving decisions in the mail? I’m an international applicant (Spain) so does anyone know how that works for me? I checked my portal status and my email and nothing yet…

@bartram17 Not sure how it works for international students. I would try calling them tomorrow to ask. Definitely call them after April 1 as that’s when they said everyone should have gotten their letter in the mail. Best of luck!!

@openskies123 , Thank you. I did see the info in the packet and it was ‘light’ but planning to reach out to AU in regards to it.

I’m an international student too! I checked my portal and my decision wasn’t on there it just said it’s being reviewed but they emailed me my decision letter. If you didn’t get an email or portal decision I suggest you email them!

I got accepted to School of Public Affairs in American today! (It was actually 5 days ago but I didn’t check my college email until today)

@adarsam they said there were 19,000 applicants for 1780 spots.

@imobamaself Coming from someone who has worked on the Hill if I were you I would seek out a summer Internship this year or next. You seem like the type of candidate quite a few offices I know of would look for. As long as you don’t apply for anything that requires a clearance I think you would stand a pretty good chance of getting a call back and hired.

How many of you are actually accepting a place on the waitlist?

How are they releasing their decisions? My portal still says my application is under review. Is there a pattern to the release times?

Got my financial aid package on the AU student portal but haven’t received anything in the mail. Frustrating because I don’ know what school I was accepted into or anything! I also know people in my state who have received their admissions letters! ???

this is stressful

@clairemiles My son will probably take the WL spot, depending on the rest of the mail this week, but historically WL is a no. They don’t take many, I’ve heard 0 at times. And 0 $$ for those they might take. That alone is probably a deal breaker. We will drop off the list once all of the aid offers are final.

@sthornton In the same boat— I see my FA and enrollment contract on the portal but still haven’t received my letter…and someone in this thread from my state received their letter!

@queenbee101 There’s not an order to the release times. They send them out in a letter by snail mail. However you can also try to make a new student portal at https://myau.american.edu/ Don’t use your SSN, just your birthdate. It seems like only people who are accepted can make one, but it’s not definite. They sent out the last letters Friday, so I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t gotten anything yet!
